1975 Graduates

"Photo of Arne Larson (Grad '75) taken at his parents' cabin in Maine during the autumn of 1977. Arne was studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of New Brunswick in Frederiction during this period of his short life. To all who knew him, Arne was a gentle and generous human being. He had a clever mind, a good sense of humour and a big heart. Arne passed away tragically in a motor vehicle accident the following summer. I still miss him. To all you young and exuberant QEHS grads, please exercise caution on the roads. If not for yourselves, for the loved ones you could leave behind . . . for ever."

Grad '75

Archer, Ronald William

Aysola, Rama *

- I did not graduate from QEHS but did attend from about grade 7 until grade 9 or 10 with the class of 1975. I recall a lot of the names on the list and am terribly to hear about Arne Larson and Doug Demeau and their passing.
- I left QEHS in and graduated from Centennial high school in the south shore of Monteal in 1975. Then I travelled Europe and worked in Western canada oil rigs until 1982 when I attented the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan and graduated in 1984 in Engineering.
- I then was recruited to a job in Silicon valley, California with a high tech company. At one point I ran into Paul Sobering on a train trip home from Michigan to Montreal.
- In California I eventually became an entrepeneur and CEO of several companies including a company called Vicinty that built the original digital maps direction and yellow pages on Yahoo.com. Vicinity went IPO in 2000 and was acquired by Microsoft in 2003. I have been CEO of wireless companies and mainly based in Europe. Currently I am CEO of a local high-tech company.
- I have been married for 12 years with a 4 year old boy. Best to all who I knew so long ago. I can be reached at email : rama.aysola@gmail.com. Email me :)

- I found out about this fantastic site from Paul Sobering whom I spoke with on the phone today. It was so nice to hear from you Paul and thank you for the site information. I have enjoyed reading all the news from people who attended Queenie and Manikoutai - some great life achievements as well as stories!

- I myself graduated in 1975 from commercial studies. After finishing high school I went back to Queenie to work in the office helping Lisa Anthony who was pregnant with her first child. Finally got a summer job with IOC (after begging for a job). Worked as a janitor at Dock Terminal (first female janitors, along with Jayle Stewart & a couple of french guys). Went to school in Montreal at O'Sullivan college with Darlene Tremblay and Grace Bitman. 1997 we all graduated (Darlene & I as Legal Secretaries & Grace as a Medical Secretary) but I think were too homesick to stay in Montreal - so we all went back to Sept-Iles where I worked in Purchasing at IOC until 1981.

- I married Peter McGowan in 1980 and we left for the Calgary in 1981. During that time I worked for an engineering company PCL-Braun-Simons and following that Esso Resources all in the secretarial field. Went back to Sept-Iles in 1986 for the reunion and had a blast (we should soon do another). That year we moved to a small northern Alberta town of McLennan where I worked at the local hospital. A year later we moved to Edmonton where I worked for the provincial government. While living in Edmonton I ran into Michael Lamontagne and his wife, we spent time at his house, he is a fantastic chef! During one of our visits Richard Mack was there,he played the piano and we sang old songs had a great time!

- In 1993 Peter and I divorced and I moved to Kingston and Gananoque, worked for Sealtest Dairies in Kingston, had a little business in Gananoque. Re-married in 1995 only to seperate two years later. Have been living in Milton since October of 1998 where I work as the receptionist for a family owned used car dealership. I have no children!

- My sister Debbie lives in Milton with her husband Bob Daigle, their two children Karl 18 & Abby 15, my brother Kevin lives here as well, he is still a bachelor. I would love to hear from any of the 75 class (by the way, does any know where Ranald Archer is? last I heard he was living in Pittsburgh) or any other student that attended Queenie. All the best to all! P.S. Looking forward to lunch Paul! My email address is : jhodgins@gorrudsautogroup.com. Email me :)
