Main Activities:
The following four activities currently occupy most of my time and budget. At
times I find it hard to separate what I do for work from what I do for fun,
since for the most part I've been fortunate enough to get work which coincided
with my interests. I also like to combine activities whenever possible.

Recreative History (SCA):
Ever fascinated by stories of flashing swords and shinig armour, I often
wished it was possible to experience those times, preferably without
getting killed. Then a friend told me about the Society for Creative
Anachronism. I have been participating with them since 1994, and I'm
currently the coordinator of the Montréal chapter,
l'Ile du Dragon Dormant.

Motorcycling:
In the spring of 2000 I did something I'd been thinking of for a long
time: I acquired a motorcycle. Since then I've been riding whenever
weather permits, from April to October.

Other Interests:
The following are activities which I remain passionate about but don't
have the time to do as often anymore.

Photography:
A professional caliber photographer, I have been published, and have
done some contract work. My major interests are, but not limited to
landscapes, people, and of course, aircraft. I've also done darkroom work
in colour and in black and white. I work with 35mm equipment and have a
preference for high resolution, slow speed film. for more information and
photos, please visit my photography site,

Reading:
I enjoy reading tremendously, ever since my early teens. I read whatever
comes my way and I collect books besides. Science fiction is my favourite
form of reading entertainment. I also collect books pertaining to my major
interests: aviation, photography, history, computers, as well as books on
political science and philosophy, mythology, and others still. Favourite
authors: Isaac Asimov, Robert A. Heinlein, Arthur C. Clarke, Ben Bova,
Larry Niven.

Music:
I was raised on 30's and 40's Big Band Jazz and enjoy it still. I listen to
everything from medieval pieces to present day rock, pop and new age. As a
result, I have a small but very diverse compact disc collection. Mozart is a
particular favourite, followed by Vivaldi. I have also played and still own
a tenor saxophone.

Cycling:
Like most people I know, I've spent most my pre-teen and teen-age summers
riding a bike. I still enjoy the occasional 40+ kilometre ride, and I'm a
regular participant in the annual Tour de l'Ile de Montréal a one day
gathering of up to 46,000 cyclists parading over a sixty to seventy
kilometre course around the island of Montreal.

Aviation:
I've been interested in airplanes and aviation for as long as I can remember.
I finally earned my Private Pilot Certificate in 1992 after eight months of
part-time courses and added a night rating in 1993. I don't have much time for
flying anymore, but I'm looking forward to a time when I will. I also enjoy
attending air shows and own a collection of books dealing with aviation.

Parachuting:
In 1999 some friends and I decided to try out parachuting.
Want to see what that was like? Read all about our
first jump.

There are, of course, any number of other things I do once in a while
like playing billiards, cross-country skiing, going to movies, etc.
