Manikoutai Graduation 1975... 30 years later!

Bambrick, John

Berryman, David

- Hi Guys and Gals, it sure is nice to meet up with you. After graduating, working at the IOC and living off UI for a while, I re-joined the Armed Forces and have made a career out of it as an Air Traffic Controller. I'm still in the Air Force but as a Reservist now. I was married but am now involved in another relationship. I have a two year-old son and life is great.

- I've been in touch with quite a few people lately and decided to have a renuion in 2005. It's going to be a "30 years later" type of thing for our graduating class and of course, anyone who was part of the infamous English Section Trailers is most welcome to attend. I am in the early stages of planning but if anyone who reads this would like to attend, drop me an email and let me know who and where you are. Details about the reunion will be forthcoming later in 2004. My email address is : berryman@videotron.ca. Email me :)

- Although I graduated from Polyvalente Manikoutai I would like to congratulate and thank the creators of this site. All these familiar names bring back good memories. Keep up the excellent work.
- After HS I went off to John Abbott College to study Police Technologies and have a great time. Started working with the Saint Lambert PD as a civilian employee in 1980 and stayed there until 1988. During that time I married Shelley and became the father of Bianca (now 17.5). In 1988 I decided I needed a change of environment and oriented my career into the construction field where I worked as a labourer building tunnels to an estimator preparing bids for mega projects. Tristan (almost 13) came along at this time to add much needed joy in our lives. The construction field took a dive with the completion of the James Bay project and I was forced to re-direct my career once again. In '94 I went back to school to study as a computer programmer and after a long period of drought I landed a job with Accenture here in Ottawa where I now live. Unfortunately Shelley and I have separated since moving here but remain very good friends.
- Speaking of friends after years of being out of touch I have been in touch David Berryman, Denyse Geronazzo, Mary-Lou Hagan, and Karen Spierkel. After over 25 years I met recently with Denyse, Mary-Lou, and Karen. We enjoyed a few drinks, wonderful anecdotes but most of all shared a friendship that never seems to have left.
- During the next few weeks I will make an attempt to reach those listed on this site. If you can't wait for my call I can be reached at renzo.bragaglia@innovapost.com or renzo_bragaglia@hotmail.com. Email me :)

- Graduated from Carleton U., Ottawa in '79 - BSc, Mathematical Sciences Returned to Sept-Iles to work in IT at IOC with the idea that I would be there just for a couple of years to gain experience. Of course, your plans never seem to work the way you expect, since 28 was my magic number for getting married. Fell in love with my husband, Jim ("Legs") Dorrance, QEHS grad '74 and married in '81 (age 22) and have three beautiful children (Matthew, 19, Erin, 17,and Kristin, 14) and until two years ago, it would have seemed that we would both have ended up retiring from IOC, especially after spending 16 years in Sept-Iles and then 5+ years in Labrador City.
- We moved into our new home in Nepean (Ottawa), on July 4th, 2001 and celebrated our 20th anniversary with the movers. Most of my family and Jim's now live nearby in the Ottawa area, Kingston, and Toronto. Jim and I have many fond memories of life in Sept-Iles and Lab City but neither of us miss the weather. After living in the north for so many years, we really appreciate the longer summer season for playing tennis and golf. My email address is : hagan.dorrance@sympatico.ca. Email me.

- I didn't graduate from the English section but I attended this section for 2 years and remember quite a few names I finished on the French side but would like to contact some old friends. I now live on the South Shore of Montreal am married and have 3 children of 16 , 14, and 11. I have always worked in hairstyling and have been living around here since 1975. I married in 1982. Anyone who wishes to contact me can do so at this email address.

McGowan, Kimberley

- I guess it is time for an update. Still living in London. My son Nick lives in Sarnia (now 24), my son Justin moved back with with Mom (now 21), and my daughter Sarah lives with me too. Divorced in '86 and still not married again. But dating and doing OK with the single life. Graduated yet again from university. This time I went for my B.Ed. Yeah, the psychology and counselling degrees were interesting but the pay totally sucked. So I am now a teacher and teach Grade 6 as well as Junior Core French to grades 4, 5, 6. I am looking into applying for a High School teaching job this Spring - the little guys are really trying on the patience. Anyway - Imagine that - I was always too shy to speak French while I lived in Sept-Iles (except when I had a few drinks) - then I babbled on like a bafoon - and Helene Paquet and Michelle Lamontagne will vouch for that one. Great friends - I still keep in touch with them from time to time. David Berryman mentioned a 30 year High School Reunion for those of us that graduated in '75. Sounds like a great idea. Montreal or Toronto would be more central for alot of us. I keep in touch with Karen Keane regularly - she lives in Montreal; and sometimes Karen Morris (in Sept-Iles) as well. My email address is open to anyone who wants to get in touch. Steve McCaw (alias - Stink) - keeps in touch now and then too. He dropped in for a visit the summer of 2003 on his way to visit his Dad in Montreal. We reminisced, had a few laughs, had some wine and he BBQ's lamb to perfection. Pretty good for a professor - huh! Looking forward to hearing from anyone that went to school with me or hung out with "the gang", or just remembers me. My email address is : kmcgow@hotmail.com. Email me :)

Paquet, Helene*

- Graduated in '75 from Manikoutai french section so wasn't sure where to sign in. Left Sept-Iles in '82, lived in Edmonton Alberta for a year where I had my son Sebastien (now 17). Moved to Sarnia Ontario for 3 years, had daughter Julianne (now 15) and now have been in Montreal for the past 14 years. Presently working as a Rep for high end appliance distributor and love being on the road. Hi to anyone out there, give me news. My email address is : stella_red@hotmail.com. Email me :)

Perron, Francois*

- I moved to Port Cartier in '74 from Quesnel BC, I bussed in 74 (English Manikoutai) and 75 (French Manikoutai) and did my Cegep in Sept Iles. Went back to Bc in '79, moved to Montreal and now live in Quebec City. Like Brian Adams said, the best years of my life were spent sur la Cote Nord from 74-79. Would wish to reminisce with people from back then. My email address is : alexinadr@yahoo.com. Email me :)

- I'm just visiting the site of Manikoutai 75... David Berryman sent me the address of the site... really nice... I was with this gang from grade 1 to grade 11, then did my grade 12 on the french side... that's why I'm not in the picture of graduation... still I did accompany Renzo Bragaglia to the English prom, and feel very much a part of the group... my whole childhood was spent with them, so it's with great interest that I want to be a part of " the picture" of graduates of 75.

- After doing my secondary 5 from the French section of Manikoutai, I went on to do my nursing at the CEGEP of Sept-Iles. I graduated from there in 1978,and then went on to university on a part-time basis while working at the hospital. I worked on practically every department, from intensive care to emergency, but my preference is obstetrics where I'm dealing today with the high-risque pregnancies. So I'm still living here in this wonderful place, far from pollution and noise. I'm happily married since 1980, and have 2 children: Sébastien is 20 and Amélie is 15. I was browsing lately through the yearbooks of 1973- 1974- 1975... tons of great memories...
